Synopsis

The Cigarette-Smoking Man facilitates Mulder’s access to a cure for Scully, and arranges a meeting with his sister, an encounter that proves less joyful than Mulder had hoped. In exchange for these favors, he requests that Mulder leave the FBI and join him in the Syndicate, promising power and recognition. Mulder declines, choosing instead to remain committed to justice. Though Scully seems healed, the Cigarette-Smoking Man finds himself pursued by adversaries and vanishes, his fate uncertain.
