Synopsis

Verdie Grant, a neighbor, requested that John-Boy instruct her in reading and writing. He agreed, finding time amidst his efforts to assist Elizabeth. Yet, the undertaking proved fraught with difficulty, and the endeavor ultimately led to wounded feelings.
