The morning of August 19, 1934, dawned with a chilling precision. At precisely 2:30 a.m., the Big Train was maneuvered into the yard of the State Penitentiary in Atlanta. Fifty-four notorious criminals, among them Al Capone and Tony Diaz, were secured in handcuffs and then onto the train. Prison guards, armed with machine guns, accompanied the prisoners.
