The revival from 2019 does have its own moral compass, definitely more so than the ones from the 80s or 2000s, but those morals feel more like propaganda—more negative, really. This original series focuses on personal qualities like honesty, bravery, and good judgment; it’s not about political arguments or creating divisions. That difference is noticeable in how the stories are told. There are lessons to be learned, such as avoiding dependence on beliefs that aren't based on reason—something you rarely see in the newer versions, and only occasionally saw in the 80s one. You get episodes with straightforward warnings that act like guidelines. And then there are the science fiction stories themselves, which even back then were full of clever irony, a key element to why so many people enjoyed the series. The unexpected developments are both unsettling and pleasant. What’s not to appreciate?
