Synopsis

Ed Hamner, a former baseball player sidelined by injury and an early retirement, receives a 1909 baseball card depicting a player who is an uncanny likeness of himself: Monte Hanks. The card possesses a peculiar magic; Hamner is drawn into its world, inhabiting the life of the player in bygone days. He faces a stark choice: to embrace a life of health and athletic fulfillment in the past, or to remain in the present with his wife, who harbors a quiet fear that he will never truly mature.
