Synopsis

With each surge of his own assurance, King Henry’s dissatisfaction with the Catholic Church’s handling of his plea for an annulment of his marriage to Catherine of Aragon deepened. Consequently, Cardinal Wolsey’s authority began to erode, exposing him to the machinations of his rivals.
