The series initially made a positive impression by showcasing a group of strong women living self-sufficient lives, providing a look at their satisfaction against a setting largely populated by opposing men. The story quickly shifted, though, as an expected romantic storyline emerged and centered on two men who seemed strangely drawn to the same woman, resulting in a bizarre pattern of rejection and pleading. This unhealthy dynamic became too much and made it hard to enjoy what was happening, ultimately damaging the whole series. It faltered when trying to combine this with a tired political story that felt overly complicated. Separately, the initial use of cross-dressing seemed pointless and like an obvious attempt to make money; it didn’t even function as a way for the characters to connect, which would have been useful. That kind of connection only began once certain identities were revealed.
