The queer elements are very prominent, and I found myself enjoying every bit of it. What really stood out to me was how assuredly the show explores the conflict between close relationships and frightening supernatural events. The connections between characters don’t feel superficial; they're woven into the disturbing feeling throughout and amplify the scary parts. However, the speed at which things unfold can be a mixed bag. The first season takes its time—sometimes perhaps too much—and leaves quite a few questions unresolved. Rather than explaining the background details, the show adds more mysteries, which is captivating but also a bit irritating when you’re hoping for clearer answers. Nevertheless, the way the story unfolds actually makes the horror scenes even more impactful; they feel like sudden breaks in an otherwise languid atmosphere. The horror itself is excellent. I would have liked to see more of the impurities, because every time they appeared, it was visually impressive and gave the story a greater sense of weight. It’s also noteworthy how believable the series feels despite having supernatural elements. The use of realistic settings and small, ordinary details gives it an almost documentary feel that makes the frightening moments even more powerful. That focus on realism combines well with the strangeness and helps create a distinctive style for the anime. Score: 9 (4.5) – wonderful, but not flawless.
