Simultaneously, detectives Johanna and Wes find themselves investigating a strange case._ _The Stranger_ on Netflix is an eight-part series advertised as having mystery, suspense, and a complex narrative. But does it live up to that? Not really. It seemed like it could be good at first, but the show suffers from uninteresting main characters, storylines that don’t seem to lead anywhere, and acting that feels more suited for a daytime soap opera. There were moments where it felt similar to a lengthy episode of _Eastenders_. The series drags before things begin to get explained, and by episode six, I was hoping for some answers rather than having even more layers added to storylines that hadn’t been clarified yet. This all builds up to a hurried final episode that fails to deliver a satisfying resolution. It felt very underwhelming, with many plot points and elements that consumed a significant portion of the series ultimately remaining unresolved and irrelevant to what happened at the end. I'm not exaggerating when I say these things had nothing to do with the ending. You could skip every scene involving the teenage characters and it wouldn’t change the outcome at all; it’s unnecessary and doesn’t connect to anything, even though they were presented as a central plotline. It was far from that—their parts could have been removed and the series would be much shorter. Even talented actors like Siobhan Finnerhan and the actor from _The Crying Game_ can't salvage it, because the rest of the cast feels flat and unconvincing in their roles, and they’re caught up in a story where events feel extreme and don’t make sense given what started everything. We were left confused. It’s an acceptable series, but not much more than something to have on while you're waiting for another season of _Ozark_ to be released.
