Synopsis

He remembered the years spent in the king’s service, a consequence of his trickery in persuading the royal cook to offer him a free meal. His penance was a daily tale; fail to provide one, and he would be boiled alive in the cook’s fiery cauldron. He managed admirably until the final day, when, desperately searching for a story to stave off his doom, his mind proved utterly blank. From an ancient Celtic folk tale.
