Synopsis

Trudy encountered Jerrie Cobb and received an invitation to join the pioneering corps of female astronauts. The Mercury Seven were dispatched to San Diego for a round of public appearances, but the initial enthusiasm waned when Shepard was photographed with another woman. Glenn intervened, working to suppress the story, yet his moralizing approach fostered division among the astronauts, a rift that would profoundly influence the selection of the first crew to journey into space.
