Synopsis

The media swarmed, intruding upon the astronauts' private lives. Shepard and Gordo seemed to shrink under the glare of attention, while Glenn flourished. He negotiated a lucrative arrangement with Life Magazine, securing exclusive access to the entire crew in exchange for a sum that would fundamentally alter his life. By the time they reached Florida to commence their training, even Shepard recognized the burgeoning influence they now possessed.
