Synopsis

The year is 1916. On opposing sides of the ravaged landscape of the Somme, Tommy and Michael find themselves arrayed against one another in their respective regiments. The war has settled into a brutal stalemate, yet fighting continues with relentless ferocity. Still, the men’s thoughts drift far from the front lines; while Michael can only dream of his wife awaiting him at home, his comrades orchestrate a visit for the lovesick Tommy to the hospital, where he will spend time with Joanna.
