The initial installment of this show gave the impression it could be something special. It was captivating, unique, and managed to succeed even with some unlikely elements. However, by the fourth episode, I had a distinct feeling that what The Old Man aimed for wasn’t holding up so well. The connection between the lead actors began to weaken, the plot felt more and more far-fetched, and the carefully built sense of forward motion and importance diminished noticeably. The anti-Russian theme also feels dated now, contributing to a general feeling that things had become predictable. Ultimately, it’s disappointing. A strong starting idea, an unusual narrative, and good performances weren't enough to prevent this series from becoming simply "just another espionage thriller."
