The series features a strong ensemble but isn’t without its flaws. What makes the show appealing is also, in some ways, what holds it back. Jeff Bridges, as the lead character—a CIA operative on the run—has an easygoing charm that contrasts with his character's more dangerous side. When he shifts between these different aspects of his personality, it feels jarring. I think this was likely intentional by the writers, and it’s a tactic that largely succeeds. The abrupt change from approachable to intense really grabs your attention. However, this also proves problematic at times. The portrayal of him as an elderly man with various health issues—taking medication and moving stiffly—feels exaggerated. This diminishes the believability of his persona as a lethal assassin. It leads you to question how someone presented in such a frail state could possibly overcome opponents much younger than himself. While it’s acknowledged that he might not be able to do so physically, the series still relies on this idea. Even the inclusion of two attack dogs intended to resolve this issue ultimately creates some unbelievable gaps in the plot. The show would likely have been more effective if the “old man” aspects of his character were less prominent and his extensive training and experience were highlighted further. Despite that, there's a great deal to appreciate about it. It’s an entertaining adventure with solid writing and a talented cast. The action sequences are well-timed, and the story's unlikely elements don't detract from its quick pace and overall enjoyment. It combines sharp dialogue, fully developed characters, and plenty of violent scenes. I give it 8/10.
