Synopsis

A knot of discomfort tightened in Jim’s stomach as his boss announced his new responsibility: overseeing Karen and her duties. The other colleagues regarded him with thinly veiled disdain, their glances suggesting a perception of sycophancy. Later, in the break room, he attempted to charm Karen, suggesting she postpone work until she located her preferred snack.
