Finding this was an unexpected pleasure, and I felt immediately immersed in its atmosphere. Even after finishing it, the image of that dreadful vessel lingered with me, along with a sense of unease and confinement. Colin Farrell delivers a remarkable performance; he’s almost unrecognizable portraying a primal, violent figure who initially wreaks havoc on the streets of Hull before moving onto an aging whaling ship. However, one can't help but question the reality of what unfolds. Jack O’Connell embodies Patrick Sumner, a physician struggling with morphine dependency and a history he’s trying to escape. A feeling of inescapable dread hangs over everything, as oppressive and certain as the effects of drug withdrawal.
