Synopsis

Herman was hit by a vehicle; remarkably, he suffered no injuries, though the car itself was rendered beyond repair. The driver, convinced she had seriously harmed him, received a suggestion from her lawyer to offer Herman ten thousand dollars in settlement. Upon receiving this sum, Herman mistakenly believed it represented what he owed for the damage to the car. Overwhelmed by the prospect of financial devastation for his family, he fled home rather than confront the situation.
