It requires a few episodes for the series to properly set up, but after the characters settle into their roles and Simon Baker seems at ease portraying Jane, it’s easy to become completely invested in this story. The elaborate schemes that Jane employs are captivating; the ongoing Red John storyline maintains a sense of mystery, and the doubt surrounding Jane's intentions creates just the right level of suspense. However, the way Red John’s plot is developed and explained later on does lessen the show's overall impact.
