It’s strange to recall a series that finished airing more than a decade before my birth, yet still holds childhood memories for me. I know these were repeats, but I can’t quite figure out when I originally saw them. I have to say, though, it hasn't stood the test of time particularly well. What I mean is that it fails to translate; it doesn’t work as something enjoyable for adults after having liked it as a child. It wasn't successful moving from its original era to when I first experienced it. As a kid, I found the comedy appealing, but now I think it would have benefited from settling on a specific tone. It should have been either like the Sean Connery Bond films or the Roger Moore ones, rather than attempting to combine elements of both. Despite this, it remains diverting, and that was presumably its purpose. And since I really enjoyed it as a youngster, I’d give it a perfect score—any criticisms I might offer are just overly fussy. It's worth checking out.
