The show has declined in quality with each new installment. The only truly significant scene across all the seasons came in season 3, specifically Alfred’s death and his eventual understanding with Uhtred; everything else felt like a forgettable television program aimed at a younger demographic and commissioned by a streaming platform. It was poorly made, uninspired, superficial, and frankly ridiculous in its clumsy efforts to appear progressive through diversity initiatives.
