This has the feel of Mickey Mouse struggling with substance abuse. Honestly, it’s incredibly sluggish and uninspired. As someone from Denmark who wasn't closely following the news coverage of this case, I truly hope our police aren't quite as incompetent in real-life investigations as they appear to be here. It's unbelievable that after two months have passed, somebody finally thinks to examine the suspect’s computer. The prosecutor—or whatever their title is called here in Denmark—waits until the second court hearing to request permission to search the suspect’s home and belongings? Seriously? I really hope that isn't how things work. And on a technical level, the filmmaking is just awful. Maybe it's less noticeable if you don't understand Danish, but the dialogue feels so unnatural and stiff—it doesn't resemble any kind of real conversation. It’s worse than watching performances from plays decades old. The rhythm is dreadful; I mean, how much time does the audience have to watch boats being searched without finding anything? Then they try to compensate for that with characters displaying blank expressions while listening to what sounds like a massive orchestra of mournful violins. Good grief. It’s boring, the acting is poor, the direction is lacking, and the police are terrible—just bad all around! The dog, though, was really great.
