"The Hunting Party" brings to mind "Criminal Minds." The characters presented as heroes consist of another FBI profiler collaborating with a CIA agent and a prison employee, tasked with tracking down criminals who have broken out of an undisclosed government facility. This is a place where dangerous individuals—serial killers and others—are kept for study, much like animals in a laboratory, apparently so that similar people can be apprehended and subjected to the same treatment. The concept is admittedly somewhat far-fetched, but it’s still engaging. The performances are good, and the characters seem reasonably believable. The initial episode is acceptable, featuring an ending with a degree of creativity and cleverness. That's certainly something positive. Essentially, it’s a standard US crime series that has, so far, demonstrated slightly more effort than many others in terms of narrative development. It will be interesting to see if they maintain this level.
