Following The Good Wife, we decided to check out its spinoff series. I looked at reviews elsewhere online and noticed many were very negative, which I’ve learned often stems from disagreements with the show's political viewpoints, positive portrayals of LGBTQ+ characters, or a diverse cast in prominent roles—possibly all three factors were at play here. I’m finding the program quite entertaining. It alternates between humor and drama, and its storylines and style are notably bold. Occasionally, it feels like it stretches boundaries too much. A character introduced during the fourth season, who was dishonest, quickly became tiresome; I thought the actor seemed to be imitating Al Pacino's performance in Scent of a Woman. However, these over-the-top moments seem intended to serve a well-told story. At times, it feels like they’re inventing elaborate plots, but what’s wrong with that? Why should only those on the right side of the political spectrum get to fabricate stories? So if a program with liberal leanings is too much for you, you might want to skip this one or be prepared for discomfort. Otherwise, grab some snacks and settle in—you may end up watching many episodes back-to-back.
