This show truly stands among the very best science fiction television ever produced. If you’re new to it, be certain to watch episode 4, "CQB." Regarding the source novels: They are excellent, and so is the adaptation. It's perfectly fine to appreciate both mediums even though they aren't identical. I’ll keep this intentionally brief: Several storylines are interwoven within the series. The initial season's narrative follows a detective investigating the disappearance of someone and uncovering what occurred to them. Another thread explores accountability for the destruction of a spacecraft. A third centers on a valuable and hazardous material that has been discovered, while a fourth examines the political landscape of the solar system as events escalate tensions between Earth, Mars, and The Belt. The initial two mysteries are resolved during the first season, but the remaining plot points develop and expand across subsequent seasons. The series features a varied collection of well-developed characters without relying on tired tropes seen in other shows and movies. There's sufficient attention to scientific accuracy to make it feel realistic (like the thrusters positioned on turrets to counteract rotation during firing), while still maintaining enough room for wonder. The depth of The Expanse’s universe is captivating. The Belter Creole language, created by a linguist and available to learn on memrise, exemplifies this perfectly. Oyedeng!
