I considered reading the book first, but then I checked how many books I already have waiting for me and figured I’d just watch the series instead. For the most part, I found this science fiction film enjoyable. It centers on a detective investigating a mystery in an unusual setting—a city that exists alongside another, almost like a parallel world. There are also stories and hints of a more perfect place accessible within this shared urban area. It’s certainly odd and captivating, although occasionally it felt incomplete. Some characters seemed flat or underdeveloped, and certain plot elements reminded me of "1984" by Orwell. However, given how intricate the story is, I believe they did an adequate job in presenting it so that I could understand what was happening. I’m not going to reveal any details about the storyline, which limits what I can say, but there was a point close to the finish where I thought they were heading towards an ending that wouldn't have seemed authentic or fulfilling. They altered course somewhat at that point, and I felt better about it afterward. It isn’t among my top favorites, but the originality of the plot made me happy that I took the time to view it.
