As Doc Terror’s robotic Mutron attempted to pilfer an experimental virus, the canister was inadvertently damaged during his capture by the Centurions. The resulting release of the Z-80 virus began its spread across Earth. Only its creator, Professor Manfred Owell, possessed the means to halt it; he had departed twenty years prior with a collective of scientists, seeking refuge within a sungrazer comet under the direction of Dr. Daimon Zemo and their ambition to forge a utopia.
