It’s funny because if you grew up in the eighties like I did, watching the Care Bears was something you kept pretty quiet. Even though I was just five years old, the show was clearly aimed at children, and I certainly wasn't going to broadcast that I enjoyed a kids’ cartoon. So when the movie arrived, it was best to avoid seeing it in theaters; living where I did, someone I knew might have spotted me and asked what film I was planning to see. It was preferable to wait until it was available on Beta and not be with my mom when she went to pick it up. Perhaps you were fortunate enough to find a friend who would confess (in secret and at some risk) that they also liked the Care Bears, so finally you had someone to discuss it with. Possibly. But ultimately, these were talking teddy bears, which was definitely for kids, making it ideal to write a review about it now when I’m forty years old and no one would think twice about me having watched a children's program back when I was five.
