Synopsis

Constables Martella and Stamp detain an American woman apprehended for shoplifting. She repeatedly urges them to contact her husband, who is lodged in a hotel. Simultaneously, the husband files a report concerning the theft of his briefcase from their room. Detective Inspector Burnside is dissuaded from pursuing the matter by a representative of Special Branch and a CIA agent, both awaiting the man's intended sale of classified documents. Detective Sergeant Roach, burdened by financial difficult
