The Ark feels like a standard sci-fi offering aimed at a younger audience. Predictably, it incorporates contemporary social themes, specifically female empowerment. The main female character assumes a position of authority, and there’s no real thought given to sharing that leadership with the male characters—even though they're inexperienced and would benefit from working together. Setting aside this somewhat unbelievable element, is the show worthwhile? Not especially. It’s rather unremarkable, functioning more as a space-based melodrama with survival elements. It resembles *Lost in Space* (the original version, not the later adaptation), but without any of the humor, originality, or thrills. The performances are acceptable and the production design is adequate, but that simply isn’t enough to compensate for its shortcomings. Ultimately, it's a fairly uninteresting survivalist space drama.
