Synopsis

Alex’s former wife, Phyllis, adrift in a sea of loneliness and despair, sought him out. Moved by her plight, Alex invited her to join his holiday celebrations. The atmosphere soured quickly, however, as her pervasive self-pity threatened to dampen the spirits of everyone around him. Her Christmas gift – a promise not to trouble him during New Year's – proved unexpectedly generous, and perhaps the best she could have offered.
