Today I enjoyed: Sweet Tooth. Sweet Tooth centers around a character with the same nickname as he undertakes a journey in a world after civilization has fallen. Though this sounds like something we’ve seen before, I felt it presented some original concepts and had good ideas. We soon discover "The Sick," which triggered "The Great Crumble," resulting in billions of deaths and the end of society. “The Sick” seems to draw inspiration from the COVID-19 pandemic, but the creative team didn't force this connection on viewers or exaggerate it; it was just something I noticed. The series follows Gus, also known as Sweet Tooth. Initially, we see him living with his father in Yellowstone National Park. However, their peaceful existence is disrupted, and he eventually embarks on a journey that will transform not only himself but the world and what’s left of humanity. There were several things I appreciated about this show: First off, it's great to see Nonso Anozie in a worthwhile series again. Secondly, Gus is a wonderful, sympathetic character, portrayed effectively by Christian Convery. Thirdly, the show features many children—which becomes very important as you watch—and that works really well here. The characters are appealing, and the young actors do an excellent job of bringing them to life. The supporting cast also performs admirably, though I can’t mention everyone. Let me just add James Brolin, whose voice-over work I particularly liked. I genuinely enjoyed this show and am looking forward to the next season. It does rely on some familiar plot devices and story elements, but there's something refreshing about it, and the characters are likeable, believable, and mostly well-acted. There are certainly a few performances that stand out as you watch. I can confidently suggest this show; I hope you enjoy it!
