These devices were initially intended for deactivation by Conrad Knox, a wealthy English philanthropist and head of the Knox Foundation, who claims to be dedicated to stabilizing volatile regions throughout Africa. However, it soon becomes clear that Knox has sinister plans – he’s secretly using these triggers to arm his own private militia, aiming to build nuclear weapons with the radical goal of forcing Africa's voice to be heard on a global stage. Facing formidable opposition from Knox’s considerable influence, Section 20 must operate in the shadows to thwart his scheme. Amidst this high-stakes pursuit, Stonebridge grapples with a burning need for retribution against Craig Hanson, the man responsible for his wife’s death, while Scott finds himself entangled with Christy Bryant, a former CIA operative with whom he shares a complicated and shadowy past. As the season culminates, two of the nuclear devices are secured, and disaster is narrowly averted when the remaining triggers are disarmed just moments before they could devastate Johannesburg. Stonebridge achieves his long-awaited revenge, and Knox meets a tragic end as his ambitions crumble around him.
