I’d hoped to connect with Stranger Things more than I did. Being someone who enjoys Dungeons & Dragons, I anticipated it would be something special. The storylines themselves were good, but the uneven rhythm made it difficult to remain engaged. Frequently, I felt lost by the lighthearted moments that occurred during very upsetting situations. Although these instances seemed intended to develop the characters, they also detracted from the more significant narratives. In the end, while I appreciated watching these young people repeatedly avert disaster, the show didn't resonate with me deeply. It was diverting enough while I watched it, but I don’t think I’ll revisit it because I believe the mystery and suspense were ultimately undermined by its tempo. There was a lot to explore that might be challenging to condense into a movie, but I suspect restricting it to a three-part film series would have helped streamline the story and deliver a more consistently paced experience.
