Many science fiction franchises—like Stargate, Star Trek, and Star Wars—have established rules and details that are considered official. These elements should generally be respected to maintain consistency within the fictional world. However, similar to what happened with Star Trek: Discovery and the recent Star Wars films, this show disregards those established aspects...which seems to have become a common trend in science fiction lately...and it immediately turns off viewers who’ve dedicated considerable time, money, and enthusiasm to the universe. What's even more disappointing is the low quality of the production—and we're talking about Stargate here, a series that never strove for incredibly realistic alien environments. Regardless of the planet visited in the original show, it consistently resembled British Columbia. The visual presentation here is noticeably worse than that. It just looks bad. The writing also feels off; even experienced fans of Stargate will find the dialogue confusing and awkward. The performances aren't particularly strong either. Ultimately, this is a poorly made, inexpensive, badly written, and inadequately acted attempt at expanding the Stargate universe—one that disregards so much of what’s considered official that it’s unlikely to appeal even to dedicated fans.
