Considering my age, it's clear this series wasn’t really intended for people like me. I’ve been watching Star Trek since the late 1960s, so I can accept that to a degree, but honestly, it isn’t very well executed either. There’s a relaxed, almost careless quality to everything, and Holly Hunter's performance is a prime example of this. She seems so detached that she's practically difficult to understand, adopting a 20th-century hippie persona that feels out of place. The other characters just seem to exist without much purpose. The writing also raises questions. Why are we seeing early 21st-century attitudes, speech patterns, and behaviors in what’s supposed to be the 32nd century? I managed to get through three episodes before I quit trying to find anything positive about it beyond the CGI, which is impressive. However, the absence of good storytelling and character development made stopping easy.
