It’s surprising to realize this was Star Trek taking place on a space station. It was certainly an enjoyable program, and I can appreciate it for what it is, but *The Next Generation* premiered when I was seven years old, and at that age, I would have absolutely adored this show. If it had been released then, it would have surpassed *TNG*. I would’ve definitely participated in a comparison test and chosen *Deep Space Nine* without hesitation. However, the series debuted when I was thirteen. The teenage me found it appealing; there were characters who acted questionably, seriously flawed individuals, all brought together on a space station—and that concept really resonated. My only disappointment is that it wasn’t available earlier in my life, because then it would have been the best show imaginable.
