On the island of Sloborn, life continues with its familiar rhythms. The inhabitants, including fifteen-year-old Evelin, who is recently with child, are oblivious to the insidious virus that silently spreads across their home.

Evelin’s pregnancy is proving difficult, and a growing number of people are falling ill with a mysterious ailment that draws the attention of policeman Mikkel, who begins to suspect its source.

With newcomers and long-time residents converging on the island, and private lives becoming ever more intricate, the initial victims of the illness begin to emerge.

With the arrival of a state-appointed pandemic commissioner, a subtle fracturing begins within the close-knit community. The lines of kinship and familiarity, once strong, start to fray under the weight of imposed authority.

Driven by a twisted devotion, Herm and Evelin plot against their parents, their actions born of a misguided affection. Their deceit, however, unravels into deeper misfortune as the virus claims yet another life.
