Synopsis

The city was thrown into turmoil by the actions of a fugitive, a man who threatened further devastation unless Hammer yielded to his demand for a duel, a contest of skill reminiscent of the Old West. The escaped convict was John Kogan, Hammer’s rival since boyhood and former colleague in the police force. Kogan possessed another, more dangerous distinction: he was, as Sledge knew well, the only man who could draw faster than Hammer.
