I want to mention that the series is adapted from a book, and credit goes to the author for crafting such a wonderful narrative. As for the show itself, it’s not terrible; it holds some interest. However, it's unfortunately permeated with DEI and woke messaging. The presentation gives the impression that roughly 80% of the population is Black or people of color, which isn't reflective of reality since they represent a minority. Furthermore, nearly every romantic pairing in the series involves mixed-race or non-white individuals, indicating discriminatory DEI policies are at play. Naturally, there’s also gender propaganda included, as is typical these days. There's a particular scene where an elderly white woman—portrayed as lesbian and previously married to another woman—is shown kissing an older Black woman. It was really upsetting to see... The actress involved is 74 years old, and it seems those responsible insisted she perform this scene. She probably isn’t even interested in intimacy at her age and likely felt pressured into doing it. This feels like propaganda promoting racial mixing, with many actors seemingly selected based on their skin color rather than talent. It creates the impression that the show's creators disapprove of people associating primarily with those of their own race, which is a form of racism itself. There’s nothing inherently wrong with connecting with your own community. I wish the Trump administration would take stronger action against this kind of thing. Because of all this, I can’t give the show a good rating. And frankly, I don't regret that feeling.
