The show’s commitment to historical detail is remarkable. There's a great deal of care evident in the depiction of clothing, buildings, weapons, and customs from that era. It avoids idealizing or criticizing 16th century Japanese society; instead, it presents both its positive and negative aspects without judgment. Every member of the cast delivers strong performances. I must admit I'm somewhat disappointed with Hiroyuki Sanada’s character—it seems he hasn’t been given enough to do. While the acting itself is excellent, the portrayal of Toranaga doesn't feel especially layered or intricate. Abe Shinnosuke, Satō Tadanobu, and Hoshi Moeka really shine, elevating smaller parts into surprisingly rich and involved subplots.
