Synopsis

When Alice Turner summoned Sherlock Holmes, it was with a heavy heart. Her friend, William McCarthy, a farmer she had known her whole life, was dead, and the local constabulary were inclined to suspect his son, James. James himself offered only a curt admission of a recent quarrel with his father, yet refused to divulge the nature of their dispute.
