Synopsis

Sir Robert Norberton wagered a considerable sum – a large portion of it borrowed – on the victory of his horse, Shoscombe Prince, in a race. His trainer, convinced Norberton had succumbed to folly, sought the counsel of Sherlock Holmes. Soon after, one of Norberton’s creditors vanished, and the discovery of human bone within a furnace cast a grim shadow over the proceedings.
