Synopsis

Neville St Clair was a man of unwavering routine and impeccable respectability, employed within the bustling heart of the City of London. One afternoon, his wife ventured into town for luncheon and was confronted by a sight that stole her breath: her husband, visible through the window of an opium den. He did not return home that evening, and Mrs. St Clair, deeply troubled, resolved to seek the counsel of Mr. Holmes.
