Synopsis

Camille Preaker, a reporter for the St. Louis Chronicle, journeys back to Wind Gap, Missouri, her rural hometown. She is there to cover the disappearance of two girls, one of whom has been found dead, presumed murdered. The assignment brings Camille face-to-face with her domineering mother, Adora, and stirs up painful recollections of childhood. Among these are the lingering shadows of her younger sister Marian's death, a tragedy that occurred when they were both students.
