As I’m a Black man, I find the inclusion of homosexuality within storylines featuring Black characters to be problematic. While I can’t express all my concerns openly regarding this series, I want to be as straightforward as possible. I enjoy depictions of sexuality in film and television, including nudity. The avoidance of male nudity until around 2010 was understandable; male genitalia aren't particularly aesthetically pleasing or impressive. However, given the current emphasis on equality, the idea that what’s acceptable for one group should be acceptable for another seems logical. However, my enjoyment diminishes when entertainment incorporates aspects of progressive social viewpoints. Critical Race Theory, homosexuality, inclusivity, gender identity, misandry, disparities in equity outcomes, and cancel culture detract from the entertainment value. It's difficult to appreciate comedic moments when a show is so overtly ideological; especially considering that those holding these views often respond to criticism with intimidation or bullying. Crafting relatable characters becomes challenging when their experiences don’t resonate with audiences. The fact that these social viewpoints can overshadow enjoyable elements of a program is deeply disappointing. I have little interest in seeing an attractive woman on screen if I know, due to inclusivity mandates, she won't be unclothed. Why would I want to watch two men kiss, or worse, see them naked together? It’s hard to accept a female character as the leader of a combat unit when it seems unlikely she has experience with action-oriented video games. Changing channels is tempting whenever a lesbian character—often sporting a masculine haircut and clothing style—begins a romantic scene. These progressive social viewpoints don't translate well into entertainment because they aren’t representative of common experiences. A lack of relatability makes the writing feel forced, requiring excessive effort to maintain consistency and believability. This show suffers from that issue as well. I find it unappealing, lacking any anticipation or interest. It's personally exhausting trying to distinguish between male and female characters in shows like this; even then, you have to wait to see who they end up with to understand their motivations. The whole thing feels overly complicated and needlessly so. Even if the show is performing well in terms of ratings, I would view that data skeptically. Those promoting these viewpoints often possess the financial resources to manipulate reviews. My assessment aligns more closely with viewers who appreciate straightforward entertainment—a position that places me on the less favorable side of “Rotten Red Vegetables.” The rating for this show is not high at all; I didn't assign one because even a half-star would be too generous. Mediocrity shouldn’t be encouraged; it should be disregarded.
