This is a rather lackluster reworking of well-known video game properties. "Secret Level" includes the expected amount of progressive themes and culturally sensitive content, but what truly holds this series back are the stories themselves, which are mostly uninspired. A lack of inventiveness and good storytelling is apparent. The show seems to rely heavily on computer-generated visuals, occasional appearances by famous actors, and a general feeling of newness in an attempt to keep things moving along. Ultimately, it’s woke, lacking imagination, and quite boring overall. I gave a few episodes a try before losing interest quickly; I'll be playing the games from now on.
