Kambei met with the Guardians and declared he had killed Amanushi’s envoy within Ayamoro’s house—an act that initiated the samurai’s pursuit and ultimately led to his transport to the capital. Though he journeyed as a prisoner, Kambei harbored a plan to rescue the women abducted by the Nobuseri.
