It’s hard to believe RuPaul wasn’t so problematic not long ago. The current climate has become excessively sensitive; it feels like an actual phobia, a form of prejudice, or even hatred. It's become overtly political—you can essentially determine the victor from the very beginning by simply ticking off diversity requirements. This is quite different from the initial six seasons when the program genuinely felt competitive and showcased remarkable talent. Now, contestants will actively undermine each other to gain attention, yet Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives still decide who takes home the prize. Following the Nashville shooting, the most recent episode was filled with 7s—a sign that the shooter is being portrayed as the victim—all while playing the victim card. The show can champion someone responsible for killing two nine-year-olds because of their faith and then act like they are the ones suffering. That’s simply unacceptable. Regardless of how you define yourself, at that point you're not a victim; the children who lost their lives *are* the victims, and the show should be embarrassed to take this position.
