Synopsis

D.J. found himself the unexpected beneficiary of his great aunt Harriet’s estate; he was, it turned out, the only relative she had never encountered. Receiving five hundred dollars, he promptly spent half on a trombone, hoping to capture the attention of a girl in the school band who played the tuba. Elsewhere, Darlene’s social standing suffered as she casually mentioned declining a job in advertising that offered a weekly salary exceeding both her parents’ combined income.
